From the mountains of Mie

A landscape shaped by water.

Hayashi-san and his family cultivate tea in Ōdai, Mie Prefecture, within a designated Biosphere Reserve.

Here, the Miyagawa River — ranked among the most pristine in Japan — flows through a mountainous area with abundant rainfall and dramatic temperature shifts. These conditions nurture characteristically thick leaves with a deep, full-bodied flavour.

Since 1978, the family has cultivated tea without the use of agricultural pesticides — a quiet commitment to doing ordinary things exceptionally well.
